Sara
Hoffman’s book, “Finding Baby Ruth,”
is about a young
woman’s search through rural Kansas for the baby she reluctantly
gave up for adoption. Set in the Roaring ‘20s, this historical
fiction novel embraces the infatuations of the times --
evangelism, mysticism, moonshine, Model T’s, baseball, bank
robbers, and an assortment of chocolate bars. “Finding Baby
Ruth” brings to life a small town of characters that help,
hinder and complicate the search, while peeking around a few
corners of their own. What they find isn’t always what they
expect.
